Spyro Kalos, Recycling Manager, MobileMuster, said “We partner with a number of government agencies like the Department of Defence and South Australia Police who require a secure and responsible recycling service to support their business operations.”

The Government’s accreditation, which MobileMuster acquired in 2014, gives the program a green tick of approval and recognises that MobileMuster adheres to the highest safety and ethical standards when recycling old mobiles and accessories which is important to our workplace partners.

The following workplaces took out top honours:

  • Australian Capital Territory Top Collector - Department of Defence
  • New South Wales Top Collector - Department of Family and Community Services
  • Northern Territory Top Collector  - Department of Lands, Planning and the Environment
  • Queensland Top Collector  - Department of Transport and Main Roads
  • Western Australia Top Collector - Transperth
  • South Australia Top Collector - South Australia Police
  • Tasmania Top Collector - Department Primary Industries, Parks, Water & Environment
  • Victoria Top Collector - Country Fire Authority

“In the 12 months to June 30, workplaces increased their collections from the previous year and diverted over 5,122kgs of mobiles, batteries, chargers and accessories from landfill and over the past 10 years have collected over 90 tonnes mobiles and accessories for recycling.”

MobileMuster provides workplaces with annual reporting on the weight of mobile components recycled and the environmental benefits generated for inclusion in workplace sustainability reports. It also ensures that all data on used mobile phones is destroyed through the recycling process and on request can provide a certificate of destruction for workplaces. This is important to workplaces to ensure security and that data will not be accessed by other parties. It can also provide specialised services including an IMEI tracking service and data wiping to meet additional needs of workplace partners.
